The painters journey
Artists: Euan Macleod and Peter Godwin
2 April -21 April 2014
The stunning Guilin scenery and vibrant Hong Kong and Shanghai cityscapes provided fresh inspiration for Macleod and Godwin, and represented new subject matter for the artists to interpret in their respective styles. Over their journey they sketched and painted the regional landscapes en plein air (in open air), and the resulting final paintings and works on paper depict each artist’s unique perspective of the cities.
“Hong Kong is incredibly different from the landscapes I paint in Australia and New Zealand,” says Macleod. “The colours in the city are amazing, and there’s such great energy. For our first exhibition in Hong Kong we wanted to show works that were relevant to the city.”
